Neil Burnett
krosfyah
Neil first started playing the steel pan in 1993 at the Garrison Secondary School.
He played the pan for about 3 years before realizing that it was not his instrument
of choice. In 1996, Neil found his heart beat and switched from the steel pan
to the acoustic drums. He later went on to play drums with the Garrison School
Steel Orchestra (later known as the Ambassadors Steel Orchestra), one of the
leading steel bands in Barbados, for most of his musical career. This association
helped Neil to gain much experience, through performing on the Hotel circuit.
He was even afforded the opportunity to perform in places like Trinidad, Grenada,
and Mexico and had the chance to perform for the likes of Former President Bill
Clinton and the Duke of Edinburgh on their visit to Barbados.
Neil quickly developed his skills as a drummer and was welcomed into the world
of entertainment through a stint with the band Double Xplojun working
the night club circuit in Barbados. He developed both as a performer and an entertainer,
adorning a Tasmanian devil like image, full of enery and dynamism. Neil later
moved from Double Xolojunto the band “X-ta-c” formerly
known as Coalishun<, where he continued his musical journey on
the nightclub circuit.
In January 2003, Neil was embraced into the krosfyah family
after being offered an opportunity to fill the position of drummer. This was
quite an overwhelming offer, which Neil knew he could not refuse, considering
that he was a fan of the band for many years.
Proud to be a part of the FYAH family, he has been able to spread his wings,
touring countries such as Europe (London, Holland, Belgium), USA, and the Caribbean.
Neil aspires to be one of the best in the business, and promises to leave his
mark on your mind and in your heart. Ladies, do not be fooled by that shy off-stage
persona. Be prepared, as Neil pulls you into his musical tornado and further
ignites your FYAH!
