Gordon Wood

It was about time to make a change in my gear… I’m very proud and excited about my new Mapex Drumset. I was looking for a versatile kit, easy to carry around. I found everything I wanted in the Mapex PRO M Series. The drums are easy to tune and they have a great well-balanced sound. The bassdrum gives a lot of punch and low-end. Basically, this kit reproduces exactly what I wanted to hear… Another good point is that there are so many Black Panther Snare Drums to choose from. Personally, I went for the new G2 Tribal Stainless steel one. Finally, what can I say about the new Platinum Sparkle finish? It’s awesome!!! Overall, you get an amazing deal for the price of that kit.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Alma, Lac St-Jean ( Quebec), Gordon Wood began his first music lessons at the age of 13. It was not long afterwards that he was appointed the drummer for his high school band. Following high school Gordon joined various local bands and was sought after for many recording sessions. His main influences at the time were Rush’s “A Show of Hands” album, and the performances of Paul Brochu with UZEB. Gordon quickly realized that music was his calling, and he abandoned his desire to become a pilot for a music career as a drummer.

As a young adult, Gordon continued his studies at college and university levels. He studied with Robert Pelletier at the “Cégep D' Alma” and with Sylvain Jalbert at the “Université de Québec à Trois-Rivières”. He also studied privately with artists such as Marc Bonneau, Magella Cormier and Dominique Messier.

Today, Gordon lives in Montreal, Quebec. In only 5 years, he has accumulated an impressive road sheet as a freelance musician accompanying various Montreal based artists such as Hugo Lapointe, France D’amour, Véronic Dicaire, the “Harley Davidson shows” directed by no one other than Luc Boivin and has appeared in several musical reviews including "Broadway" presented at the Lake Leamy Casino. Touring Quebec with several bands and teaching in a private music school is also form a part of his occupations.

With his dynamic style and rock-steady rhythm, Gordon Wood lays down a heavy groove.
