Dirk Brand in TAM TAM FESTIVAL 2008 FRANCE

On saturday 23 Ferbuary, the TAM TAM Festival 2008 was held at Chateau St. Jean in Montlucon, France.

New MAPEX artist Dirk Brand ( Germany) gave a masterclass and concert together with drummers like Walfredo Reyes Jun., Carmine Appice, Cindy Blackman and French drummers like Jean-Paul Damassy or Eric Thomas.

During a very crowded master class Dirk talked about sounddesign on an acoustic drumset. While playing on a vinyl record to get an old 70s snaredrum sound or simulating Thehno/ Trance hihat loops by using a splash cymbal on the snaredrum with different sticking techniques he drew everybody’s attention to these new concepts. Explaining lightning fast fills and drum’n’bass patterns he closed his master class in front of an overwhelmed crowd.

The concert was all about playing music. Dirk showed his skills by playing many different styles like funk, prog-metal, drum’n’bass and jazz hippop. Finishing his performance with an energetic solo including crossticking and cool chops over an afro-celtic music vamp he got the crowd off their chairs for a standing ovation.
