The MAPEX Drummer of Tomorrow event, which started in 2007, is about promoting drum education and the live performance music. By the end of 2007 Drummer of Tomorrow finished its semi finals in UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and France with two finalists from each country:

Julien Goepp and Delphine Langhoff from France; Berg Sebastian and Thomas Heinz from Germany; Matteo Tolomei and Vadrucci Andrea from Italy; Javier Herrero Camara and Andrea Vilalta from Spain; and John Hirst and Josh Devine from the UK.

These finalists competed in the European Final at Frankfurt MESSE on 15th March 2008 from 2 – 4 PM. The European Final attracted more than 400 people and Walfredo Reyes, Jr. pronounced the event a great success!

The MAPEX Drummer of Tomorrow European Final had two different categories: one being “groove” and the other being “technique.” Judges had to choose just one winner for each category and included MAPEX international artists Walfredo Reyes, Jr. Nick D’Virgilio, Chris Adler, and Dom Famularo and MAPEX U.S.A. Artist Relation Manager Joe Hibbs.

The competition was held in Saal Europa and all the finalists had to play a song with the famous Germany-based band All Stars and then solo for two minutes. The audience enjoyed the music and was excited by the incredible solos by all the finalists.

All finalists showed their amazing drumming and their great personalities that qualified all of them to be star quality musicians, making the job of the judges very difficult.

The whole event lasted for 2 hours and at the end Nelson Lan (Vice President of K.H.S. Musical Instrument Co., Ltd. Sales and Marketing Headquarter) gave each finalists a certificate from MAPEX and awarded the two winners: Thomas Heinz from Germany in the “grove” category and Julien Goeep from France for the “Julien Goepp” category.
