SEPT. 30th 2008 - USA, New York MAPEX ferocious Drummer Will Calhoun at the Modern Drummer FestivalT Weekend 2008 MAPEX is proud to announce that Will Calhoun was invited to perform at the 2008 Modern Drummer Festival on Saturday, September 20th 2008.
Will is a big fan of the Mapex Saturn Series and at the festival he has been playing his favorite Saturn decked out in Laser Canary Sparkle. "This kit sounds tremendous, I have used it on my Native Lands, Living Colour, and Mos Def tours, as well as many recording and clinic dates. It works for all musical occasions. The wood combination of maple and walnut creates a unique tone with a powerful tonal response." Will Calhoun "did not really have any plan for his clinic, just went by feel and got inspired by the drumming waves". He combined technologies and gave to the crowd a nice overview of his talent using either the drum wave or his MAPEX drum set. As usual the crowd widely acclaimed his performances. Produced since 1987 by Modern Drummer magazine, the world's most widely-read drumming publication, the two-day Festival presented a roster of today's top drumming talents, representing a variety of popular musical styles. The event, which featured established drumming legends as well as rising stars from a wide variety of popular musical styles, took place on Saturday, September 20th, and Sunday, September 21st, 2008 in the Concert Hall of the Performing Arts Center on the campus of the State University of New York at Purchase, New York. The place was chosen for its excellent location, renowned acoustics, and intimate vibe, while also allowing for the event's continued growth and expansion.
Some offered solo "clinic" performances; others appeared "in concert" with additional musicians. All share their talents in an educational and entertaining format that has made the MD Festival a must-see event for drummers around the world
