On the weekend of October 24th-25th, the Montreal Drum Fest celebrated its 17th year of existence. The Montreal Drum fest is a very prestigious event which attracts countless drum and percussion fanatics. Every year, Ralph Angelillo and Serge Gamache, the creators of the Montreal Drum Fest, manage to invite the very best of the best to come and perform for a very devout audience. The show attracts about 200 guests per year.

Mapex is a frequent participant in the Montreal Drum Fest and has always tried to showcase its great drums and more importantly drummers. Mapex artists such as a Liberty DeVitto, Dom Famularo and Tony Albino have graced the stage in previous years, and this year Mapex was proud to be there with none other then Moe Carlson from Protest the Hero. PTH has had immense success and Moe’s furious and heart pounding style has attracted the eyes and ears of countless drummers.

Moe was the only Rock/Metal drummer at the Montreal Drum Fest and when he hit the stage you could automatically see the heads start banging and the devil horn start waiving in the air. Moe was accompanied by his Guitarist, Tim and his Bassist, Arif. Together they performed snippets of some of their current hits and some of their upcoming music. Moe was rocking on an Electric Blue Sparkle Saturn kit and his hand-hammered brass Black Panther Snare.  If their was one memorable sound coming out of his performance, it must have been the whip cracking sound of his snare and the loud thumping of his bass drum. Mapex are renowned for having some of the best bass drum sounds on the market, and on this day, thanks to Moe, this was made even more apparent.

On his end, Moe also expressed how much he loved participating in the event, and that he would love to return to the Montreal Drum Fest stage somewhere down the line. Mapex Canada was proud to have Moe at this year’s Montreal Drum Fest and would also love to have him back sometime.

The true strength of a drum company is obviously its drums. But it is its drummers who are a testament to this greatness. Mapex is a young, ambitious and devoted brand who is dedicated to bringing the very best products to drummers of all ages and levels, and thanks to events like the Montreal Drum Fest, Mapex has a chance to demonstrate their abilities. At this year’s Montreal Drumfest, Mapex has certainly managed to put its name in the minds of its target audience. Musicians!
