Columbus Percussion hosted the 12th Annual "Drum Daze" this weekend in Columbus, Ohio. Among the world renowned artists that were invited to instruct and perform at this year's event was Mapex artist and Dillinger Escape Plan drummer, Chris Pennie.

Chris wowed the crowd with his killer chops that featured his lightning fast hands and thunderous double-pedal footwork on his Saturn Series 24x20 bass drum. He explained the importance of technology as an aid when developing drumming skills and also discussed layering syncopated rhythms. Chris played several examples using tracks that he had composed.

"Chris is an outstanding player," commented Joe Hibbs, Artist Manager for Mapex Drums. "The level of talent and sophistication Chris brings to his craft is unique. His future is very bright."

In addition to Chris, Drum Daze also featured the talents of Terrance Higgins, Jojo Mayer, Shelia E. and the legendary Billy Cobham. As usual the venue was filled to capacity as the event drew in excess of 850 attendees.

"We attend quite a few drumming events," said Mapex Marketing Director, Jeff Ivester, "but none are as well organized and are presented as professionally as Drum Daze. That's a credit to Jim Rupp and the hard-working group at Columbus Percussion. They are the most detail-oriented outfit I've ever worked with. It's no wonder that people come from all over the country every year to enjoy this event."
