"MAPEX Drum Master Will Calhoun’s Native Lands 2008 Tour in Japan"
If you mention Will Calhoun, it’s without doubt the famous drummer of Living Color. With a far reaching mix of jazz, world and urban music, the energy of the lock, Will’s Native Lands Japan Tour featuring the revolutionist jazz guitar player, Stanley Jordan, at the Blue Note Tokyo last week was a great success.

They, accompanied by Corey Wilkes (trumpet), Marc Cary (piano), Mark Kelley (bass), presented powerful and outstanding performances every night for 3 dates, and each and everyone’s charm and personality came across from the stage.
Will has been performing each time over ninety minutes of music featuring Stanley Jordan that chronicled one of his latest creation as a follow-up release of the Halfnote label: Native Lands. In this set, the former drummer of Living Color marries his far-reaching interests in genre-bending collections that tap key expressionists from various musical styles. The album can be described as Jazz meets World, meets trance-inducing urban music.

Will Calhoun, as usual, evolved transcendent technical skills featuring an alternate canvas for his acoustic drum set artistry as well as his push for electronic tonal expressions using the wave drum. His unique blend of improvisational and jazz drumming was widely acclaimed by the public during the Tour. |

Thanks to Will Calhoun for his creative vision, and his extraordinary job keeping music a spiritual and motivating force in his life.
