John S. Dunlap is the Fine Arts Department Chair and a dedicated Guitar, Rock Band, and Music Teacher at St. Martin High School in Mississippi. Passionate about expanding access to music education, he leads dynamic programs that foster creativity and collaboration. As the founder of the non-profit SM Independent, he organizes camps and clinics for middle and high school students, providing hands-on learning experiences that develop technical skills and artistic expression.

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Dunlap is a sought-after arranger, consultant, and instructor, working with high schools and colleges across Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi. A two-time Hall of Fame inductee with both the Gulf Coast Color Guard and Percussion Circuit (GCCGPC) and the Louisiana Mississippi Color Guard and Percussion Circuit (LMCGPC), he is a decorated performer and educator with DCA, DCI, and WGI World Championship titles. Residing on the Gulf Coast, he continues to compose and produce innovative original music projects set for future release, blending his extensive experience with a forward-thinking approach to music education.
