Vinnie Amico has been the driving rhythmic force behind the celebrated American jam band moe. for nearly three decades. Since joining the band’s permanent lineup in November 1996, Vinnie has helped shape moe.’s distinctive blend of rock, progressive improvisation, and groove based exploration, touring extensively and contributing to the band’s evolving sound both live and in the studio.
A native of Niskayuna, New York, Vinnie developed his musical foundation playing in various bands while attending the State University of New York at Buffalo from Grateful Dead tribute projects to experimental ensembles before stepping into one of the most demanding drum seats on the jamband circuit.
With his keen sense of time, dynamic feel, and stamina for long improvisational performances, Vinnie has been central to moe.’s live presence for more than 25 years, holding down intricate grooves that give his bandmates the freedom to explore and connect with audiences night after night.
